Accessing the IHG Merlin Employee Portal

“IHG Merlin 2” is not presented by IHG as a separate employee product or sequel. Searchers usually reach that phrase because the current Merlin sign-on address uses the me2.ihgmerlin.com domain. Employees and authorized hotel users should start from IHG’s published Merlin page, then use the available login, registration or recovery option. This independent guide is not affiliated with IHG and does not operate Merlin.

Do the domain check first. Skip hotel-booking and IHG One Rewards login pages, which use different accounts.

What is IHG Merlin 2?

IHG Merlin is an internal platform used by authorized IHG corporate colleagues, managed-hotel employees, franchise-hotel users, contractors and other approved business users. IHG pages refer to Merlin as the place colleagues use to reach internal resources, including hotel information, referrals and operational applications.

The number 2 in the search phrase appears to come from the current me2 web address rather than an official product name such as “Merlin Version 2.” IHG’s own public corporate page labels the destination simply as Sign On, while the destination page identifies itself as IHG Merlin.

That distinction prevents a common mistake.

Searching for a separate “Merlin 2 app” can lead to unrelated software, unofficial login pages or articles about the Merlin television series. The correct employee route is tied to IHG’s own domains.

Where is the IHG Merlin login?

IHG maintains a corporate Merlin page that redirects authorized users to the Merlin sign-on system. The current sign-on screen includes:

  • A login area
  • Forgot password or username?
  • A route to request a network account
  • A route for users who already have an invite code

The safest route is:

  1. Open IHG’s corporate Merlin page.
  2. Confirm that the destination belongs to an IHG-controlled domain.
  3. Use the account method assigned by the hotel or employer.
  4. Select recovery when the existing account cannot be opened.
  5. Use registration only when an invite or account-creation instruction has been provided.

Do not use the IHG One Rewards sign-in for Merlin. IHG One Rewards is the guest loyalty account used for bookings, points and member benefits, while Merlin is an internal business system.

Two logins. Different purposes.

Why the address says me2.ihgmerlin.com

The current sign-on result uses me2.ihgmerlin.com. That domain detail likely explains why employees search for “IHG Merlin 2,” “Merlin me2” or “IHG me2 login.”

IHG’s public materials do not describe “Merlin 2” as a distinct service with a separate registration policy. They continue to call the platform Merlin.

Treat me2 as part of the web address, not as proof that an older Merlin account must be replaced.

An employee whose valid bookmark now redirects to the me2 sign-on page may simply be seeing IHG’s current identity-access route. Do not create another account unless the employer or the page’s authorized registration process instructs you to do so.

How new Merlin accounts are created

IHG’s published registration instructions separate users by employment relationship.

For corporate employees and employees at IHG-managed hotels in the United States and United Kingdom, IHG says a Network ID and temporary password are sent before the employee’s start date. Corporate contractors and vendors are instructed to contact their IHG corporate contact so a Network ID can be created through MyID.

Other approved users may receive an invite code and complete self-registration through the link in the invitation or through the IHG login page.

The documented paths are:

User situationStarting route
Corporate or managed-hotel employee in the US or UKEmployer-issued Network ID process
Corporate contractor or vendorIHG corporate contact and MyID
User with an invite codeMerlin self-registration
Existing userStandard sign-on
Existing user with access troubleUsername or password recovery

Registration is not open public enrollment.

A hotel guest, job applicant or IHG One Rewards member cannot create Merlin access merely because they know the login address. The account must be connected with an authorized IHG business relationship.

Why an invite code does not work

IHG’s registration page says users who receive an invite code can complete self-registration from the email invitation or the login page.

An invite process can fail when:

  • The wrong login page was opened
  • The invitation was issued for another user
  • The account was already registered
  • The code is no longer accepted
  • The hotel or employer has not finished the account request
  • The user should receive a Network ID through another route
  • The user is a contractor who needs help from an IHG corporate contact

Check which user category applies before attempting registration again.

A corporate contractor should not assume that a hotel-employee invite process applies. IHG’s instructions specifically direct contractors and vendors to their corporate contact for MyID account creation.

Priority: contact the account sponsor. Skip trying codes from forwarded messages.

How password recovery works

IHG publishes a separate password-reset guide for corporate, managed and franchise-hotel colleagues. The guide directs users to IHG’s password-management service, where they select their domain, enter their user ID and choose Forgot Password.

After a reset, IHG says the new password can take up to one hour to synchronize across devices and platforms.

That delay is easy to misread.

A user can successfully reset the password, immediately try another IHG system and conclude that the reset failed. Wait for the documented synchronization period before repeating the process or changing the password again.

Use this order:

  1. Open the IHG password-management route from an IHG source.
  2. Select the assigned domain.
  3. Enter the established user ID.
  4. Use Forgot Password.
  5. Complete the authorized recovery process.
  6. Allow time for synchronization.
  7. Contact the IHG Service Desk if access remains unavailable.

Do not create a second Network ID because one application has not synchronized.

Forgot username or wrong domain

The Merlin sign-on screen provides a combined Forgot password or username? option.

Username recovery is appropriate when the user is unsure of the assigned Network ID. Password reset is appropriate when the username is known but authentication fails.

A domain mismatch can also stop a valid account from working. IHG’s password instructions explicitly tell users to select their domain before entering the user ID.

That is a concrete helpdesk friction. The same visible username can fail when paired with the wrong organizational domain.

Do username recovery first. Skip testing every domain repeatedly, which can trigger additional access controls or make the original problem harder to identify.

Hotel management or the designated IHG administrator can usually confirm which user category and domain apply.

Why Merlin may show a maintenance page

IHG maintains a Merlin maintenance page that states when the platform is temporarily unavailable and can provide links to commonly used applications during an outage.

A maintenance message is different from:

  • An incorrect password
  • An expired session
  • A missing Network ID
  • A browser problem
  • An account-permission issue

Read the page before beginning password recovery.

If IHG displays a scheduled-maintenance notice, changing credentials will not restore the unavailable platform. Use any alternate application links shown on the maintenance page and return after the maintenance window.

Short outage. Wrong fix avoided.

The date displayed on an indexed maintenance page can be old, so confirm that the notice applies to the current session rather than relying on a search-result excerpt.

Merlin versus IHG One Rewards

IHG One Rewards is a guest loyalty program. Its login allows members to manage bookings, earn points and redeem rewards.

Merlin is an internal platform for authorized colleagues and business users.

The accounts can intersect in limited employee-program situations. IHG’s Employee Room Benefit Programme page states that employees with a Merlin ID can connect the relevant employee process, while employees without a Merlin ID may need a manager to validate their IHG One Rewards membership number.

That does not merge the accounts.

AccountMain use
Merlin Network IDInternal IHG and hotel resources
IHG One Rewards accountGuest bookings, points and member benefits
Careers accountJob applications
Supplier or procurement loginSupplier and hotel procurement activities

Use the account tied to the task. Skip resetting an IHG One Rewards password when Merlin is the system rejecting access.

Merlin versus the IHG careers site

The IHG careers site is public and is used to find and apply for jobs. IHG’s application guidance says candidates begin by selecting Apply on the careers site, although some independently operated hotels may accept applications separately.

Merlin is not the public job-application portal.

A candidate should not request a Merlin Network ID before being hired or formally sponsored for access. Some IHG-branded hotels are independently owned and operated, and IHG notes that it may not be the employer for those positions.

That employer distinction can affect account setup. A franchise hotel may use IHG systems but manage hiring and first-line employee support locally.

Ask the hotel manager who sponsors the account. Skip contacting guest reservations about employee login access.

When to contact the IHG Service Desk

IHG’s password-reset instructions tell users with unresolved problems to contact the IHG Service Desk.

An indexed IHG network-support page publishes region-specific support routes and lists separate coverage for the Americas and EMEAA. Because numbers and regional arrangements can change, use the current support link shown through Merlin or the hotel’s internal support documentation rather than copying an old number from a third-party article.

Contact support when:

  • Username recovery does not locate the account
  • Password synchronization exceeds the documented period
  • The correct domain rejects the account
  • An invite cannot be completed
  • Access exists but a required Merlin application is missing
  • The account was disabled after a role or hotel change
  • Maintenance has ended but Merlin remains unavailable

Provide the hotel or business unit, user category and general error. Do not place credentials or authentication codes in an ordinary support message.

Two common Merlin mistakes

Using the guest loyalty login

IHG One Rewards credentials do not replace a Merlin Network ID.

Registering before an account is sponsored

Merlin access is tied to an authorized employment, hotel or business relationship. Use the invitation, Network ID or account process assigned by IHG or hotel management.

IHG Merlin 2 FAQ

Is IHG Merlin 2 a new version?

IHG does not publicly label it that way.

The phrase usually refers to the me2.ihgmerlin.com address used by the current Merlin sign-on page.

Where is the IHG Merlin login?

IHG publishes a corporate Merlin page that directs users to the IHG Merlin sign-on system.

Can anyone register for Merlin?

No. Access requires an authorized IHG, managed-hotel, franchise-hotel, contractor, vendor or related business account process.

What is an IHG Network ID?

It is the organizational user identity assigned for authorized access to IHG systems. IHG says eligible corporate and managed-hotel employees in the US and UK receive a Network ID and temporary password before their start date.

Why does my new password fail?

IHG says a reset can take up to one hour to synchronize across devices and platforms.

Is Merlin the same as IHG One Rewards?

No. Merlin is an internal business platform, while IHG One Rewards is the guest loyalty account used for bookings and points.

Can I apply for an IHG job through Merlin?

No. Public applications begin through the IHG careers site or the process supplied by an independently operated hotel.

What if Merlin says maintenance is in progress?

Read the current maintenance notice and use any alternate application links IHG provides. Do not reset the password merely because the platform is temporarily unavailable.

Who creates contractor access?

IHG’s registration guidance tells corporate contractors and vendors to contact their IHG corporate contact so a Network ID can be created through MyID.

Why can I log in but not see an application?

Authentication and application permissions are separate. Ask the hotel’s authorized IHG administrator or Service Desk to review the role and access assignment rather than creating another account.

Start from IHG’s published Merlin page, identify whether the account uses an existing Network ID, invite code or sponsored registration process, and allow the documented synchronization period after a password reset. Route missing application permissions through hotel management or the IHG Service Desk.
